“In the work of justice, we are prone to run toward the brokenness we see, and rightly so; those in great need of rescue and healing are waiting. But Jesus invites us to join him along another pathway to freedom – one that miraculously allows us to be both the rescued and the rescuer – and this is the pathway of prayer. In this intercessory stance, we acknowledge our need for Christ and our power in Christ to combat injustice through the relentless, courageous work of prayer. Jesus invites us into solitude and into the intercessory community that sits at his feet.”
July 30, 2020 is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. It’s a time to raise awareness of the plight of human trafficking victims around the world and in our community.
As the quote above convicts us, we have a tendency to jump ahead of God when we see a need. Unshaken is an invitation to slow down and take the pathway of prayer as we move toward freedom for the oppressed.
Unshaken is a week of prayer and fasting for anti-trafficking work, hosted by Mirror Ministries, leading up to World Day Against Trafficking 2020. We invite you to join us as we fast and pray through ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication), bounded by a day of contemplative prayer and a call to action.
Fast as you feel led, in accordance with your health needs. You may choose to skip a meal a day, cut out a particular food, fast from social media or television, only drink juices, etc. It’s entirely between you and the Holy Spirit.
