Mirror Ministries Volunteer Application

AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHED LIGHT ON A DARK AND HURTING WORLD

Our Vision

To reflect the grace of God to victims and survivors of human trafficking.

Our Mission

Mirror Ministries' mission is to respond to domestic minor sex trafficking with the love of Christ through local education, intervention, restoration, and aftercare. Our vision is to see local victims of sex trafficking become survivors who have hope, healing, and restoration.

Our Core Values

Respect - We respect the boundaries and needs of others.

Value - Every human being has inherent value as an individual created in the image of God, regardless of what they have done, what has been done to them, what they believe, or what their background is.

Empower - We walk alongside others to empower them to choose freedom and healing. We know that we cannot save anyone or make their choices for them.

How We Achieve

We carry out our mission and vision in two specific ways:

Survivor Services - Direct assessment, intervention, and restoration for victims and survivors of sex trafficking in the Tri-Cities area through non-residential aftercare.

Education & Awareness - Through presentations, trainings, Princess not a Product, SUDS, and SOLD: The Human Trafficking Experience

How To Partner & Serve With Us

It all begins with prayer and this application! As you complete the application, pray that the Lord would reveal where He is calling you to use your talents and gifts. A Mirror Ministries Staff will be in touch to set up an interview time. This is a time when you can hear more about our vision for Mirror Ministries and we can hear more about your heart for serving. We will provide training, coordination, and support throughout your volunteer time with us and ask that volunteers commit to serving for a minimum of one year.

Volunteer Qualifications

Mirror Ministries strives to select long-term volunteers who embrace our ministry goals and objectives.  This requires Directors and Long-Term Volunteers to be committed to:

Jesus Christ

The light of Jesus Christ is at the heart of Mirror Ministries.  Therefore, the commitment of individuals to a personal, growing relationship with Christ is a must. Serving the Lord through Mirror Ministries should be only a part of a balanced Christian lifestyle.

Church Membership

As Christians, the Lord requires us to be a part of a local body of believers for spiritual growth,  encouragement, worship, and accountability.  Long-term volunteers must be members or equivalent in their local church.

Integrity

As representatives of Mirror Ministries, volunteers serve as ambassadors of this ministry.  Each one must implement their tasks with unquestionable integrity, knowing that their service reflects not only on the ministry but also on the name of Jesus Christ.

Mirror Ministries

To minister effectively, individuals should embrace the Mirror Ministries Mission, sharing the belief that it is a privilege to serve the Lord in and through this ministry.

Teamwork

As a group of people dedicated to bringing love, hope, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to victims and survivors of human trafficking, individuals must function in a team setting.  It is vital for all to respect the ministry leadership in place.

Empowering Others

Individuals should possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to enjoy and rejoice in the success of others, as well as inspire and motivate others to serve the Lord together through Mirror Ministries. Survivors of complex trauma have many symptoms that add strain to interpersonal relationships. Volunteers working directly with clients must be committed, consistent, and caring and able to support individuals of diverse backgrounds, ideologies, and faiths.

Spiritual Shepherding

The gift of shepherding (caring for others) churches, groups, and individuals who participate in Mirror Ministries is essential to the success of this ministry.  Team members and leaders should remain open and sensitive to the spiritual needs of other volunteers and participants, praying with and building up the Body of Christ as they serve the Lord through Mirror Ministries.

The Body of Christ

Mirror Ministries is a para-church organization, and we work with and serve Christians from churches around the Tri-Cities and the nation. We must be willing to work with Christians and churches of all traditions, denominations, and ethnicities.  Mirror Ministries is committed to empowering the entire body of Christ.

Confidentiality Policy (Required)

Mirror Ministries Confidentiality Policy

for Employees, Volunteers, and Board Members

Respecting the privacy of our clients, donors, members, staff, volunteers, and of Mirror Ministries itself is a basic value of Mirror Ministries. Personal and financial information is confidential and should not be disclosed or discussed with anyone without permission or authorization from the Executive Director. Care shall also be taken to ensure that unauthorized individuals do not overhear any discussion of confidential information and that documents containing confidential information are not left in the open or inadvertently shared.

Employees, volunteers, and board members of Mirror Ministries may be exposed to information that is confidential and/or privileged, and proprietary in nature. It is the policy of Mirror Ministries that such information must be kept confidential both during and after employment or volunteer service. Staff and volunteers, including board members, are expected to return materials containing privileged or confidential information at the time of separation from employment or expiration of service.

Our client confidentiality is of the utmost importance for their safety, protecting the integrity of any criminal charges and our clients’ dignity.  Their stories are THEIR stories; do not take away that ownership. Clients must sign a Release of Confidential Information (which they can revoke at any time) for any of their information to be shared except what is required by law.

Mirror Ministries’ employees and volunteers are required by law to report any information regarding abuse and/or neglect of minor children or vulnerable adults to Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services as directed by RCW 26.44.030.

Mirror Ministries’ employees and volunteers are required by law to reveal any information necessary to establish safety if there is reason to believe that a client is in imminent danger of harming themselves or another person, as directed by RCW 5.60.060.

We will communicate that legal responsibility to our clients before they share their stories whenever possible.  In the event that we are required by law to reveal client information, Mirror Ministries will make every effort to advise our clients of the release of information. Any information released will be the minimum necessary to fulfill the legal requirements.

Unauthorized disclosure of confidential or privileged information is a serious violation of this policy and will subject the person(s) who made the unauthorized disclosure to appropriate discipline, including removal/dismissal.

Church Affiliation and Statement of Faith

As part of this faith-based ministry, Mirror Ministries expects all volunteers to agree and abide by the following statement of faith. Please prayerfully consider.

Mirror Ministries’ Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God. II Timothy 3:15-17

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. John 1:1-4; Matthew 1:23; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15; Acts 1:11 & 2:22-24; I Corinthians 15:3-4

We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that for lost and sinful man, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in Salvation and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Romans 3:23; Titus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose regeneration and indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life and to perform good works. Titus 3:3-5; Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. Revelation 20:11-15; I Corinthians 15:51-57

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the Church. Ephesians 4:4; I Corinthians 12:12, 27
