ProtectEd: Equipping Students to Recognize, Resist, and Report Exploitation

Introduction (for educators and administrators):

Welcome to ProtectEd, a prevention-based human trafficking education curriculum developed by Mirror Ministries. This 60-minute lesson plan for grades 7–12 is aligned with Washington State's RCW 28A.320.168 and equips students with the tools they need to identify unsafe situations, set healthy boundaries, and understand how to seek help. The material is trauma-informed, age-appropriate, and designed to be taught by classroom teachers, counselors, or guest presenters. Whether you're teaching this lesson yourself or partnering with our trained facilitators, we're here to support you in delivering this important content with confidence and care.

Access the full ProtectEd curriculum library: the Facilitator’s Guide, Instructor’s Guide, all SignalEd learning modules, and accompanying slide decks. These resources are designed for grades 7–12 and provide everything educators need to deliver trafficking prevention instruction with confidence—whether teaching a single lesson or implementing a multi-unit approach.

OSPI Instructional Guidance

Washington State law (RCW 28A.320.168) requires that all students in grades 7–12 receive instruction on sex trafficking prevention by the 2025–26 school year. The OSPI Guidance Document outlines best practices for delivering this instruction in age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and inclusive ways. It provides helpful strategies for safe learning environments, student engagement, and integrating content across subjects.
